A Grand Theft Auto Online player recently shared how he views the map in terms of the pros and cons of each sector and most fans seem to agree. Millions and millions of players have been exploring the GTA Online map for almost eight years now. For the most part, Rockstar Games never released any significant changes, especially to topography.
It’s no surprise, then, that the map itself is a predictable beast, allowing regular users to easily identify a location’s strengths and weaknesses. Even Grand Theft Auto Online’s weekly updates only manage to change the flow of things in minimal ways. This has arguably led to stagnation in some ways, although there are plenty of players who don’t seem bothered. GTA V sales figures have yet to see a big drop, recently topping 140 million units sold – the game moved 20 million copies in 2020 alone. Some gamers are noticing GTA’s stagnation, however Online and found interesting ways to sum up their perception of what the eight-year-old card has to offer.

Recently, Reddit user wave_wave_wave shared a modified GTA Online map, which features white text labels on their perception of each area of the San Andreas locale. The “MC business and Clubhouse” is at a standstill, the user noted; just below this area is a large section simply marked with the word “Death”. Apparently going further south is the perfect place to hide from the cops and GTA Online griefers, thanks to the tunnels. Meanwhile, the mountainous area at the top serves as another death trap, with the sector above hosting many missions that take forever to get to from the city center. The post’s Reddit thread below is filled with other players sharing how they would label the map. One user says the southern industrial area should be considered “awesome, stuck here now.” And a few others have made it known that Paleto Bay is among the most ideal spaces on the map.
The GTA Online map has probably annoyed many players, but Rockstar isn’t necessarily resting on its laurels. In December, the studio dropped the Cayo Perico Heist update, which added a new map filled with new points of interest, quests, and guest DJs. However, it probably won’t be long before players find a predictable rhythm with this map.
Both GTA V and GTA Online have maintained solid player bases for several years, but Grand Theft Auto faithful are ready to move on. Rumors of a sixth mainline entry continue to swirl, though Rockstar itself has yet to share any concrete details.
