It’s been eight years since Grand Theft Auto V. And while players are still incredibly enjoying the game thanks to online updates, that doesn’t mean they aren’t frantically excited for the follow-up.
Along with the speculations and theories about what the game could possibly be, or where it will be set (or even when it will be), fans have a huge list of demands. Whether it’s fixing the gameplay errors the series has always had, adding more content, or creating bigger maps, the more time passes, the more fans will expect from the sequel.
10 Rag Doll Physics
GTA IV is not only the best GTA game, but also the best Rockstar game. Not only was the narrative thought-provoking and featured an engaging main character, but there were so many fine details that were combed through as well. One of the biggest parts of the game was seeing players fly when they got shot or thrown out of the car.
The rag doll physics were amazing in GTA IV, but with GTA V that physics was non-existent, and it was one of the few areas where the series took a step back. The characters just seemed to rock regardless of the storyline, so it will be great to see them back on this mod as it’s something fans want to see.
9 different islands
Although a small minority of fans complained that the map was too big, believe it or not, fans want an even bigger one. Not only that, but they want different islands that players can fly around.
It’s a great idea, as it could eventually see Vice City, San Andreas, and even Liberty City in a single game. But the likelihood of that happening is low. And given that Rockstar struggled to even fill the map in GTA V, different islands might be too big.
8 A Backpack
Being one of the simplest yet most logical fan requests, a backpack is wanted for the playable character in GTA VI.
It was introduced in Red Dead Redemption 2, and at this point in the world of video games, when they get so cinematic and realistic, it seems so ridiculous when a character pulls out a rocket launcher out of nowhere. Although it may seem insignificant, it can help the game to be more immersive (and there is a demand for it too).
7 A Climbing System
The Grand Theft Auto series combines a multitude of game genres, whether it’s racing, shooting, or any of the available mini-game modes. And they even introduced the idea of playing the game from a first-person perspective when the game was re-released on PlayStation 4.
Now fans want a climbing system, (a la Uncharted). That would be great to see, as the game could introduce side games with rock climbing (and the idea of climbing Mount Chiliad with Uncharted rock climbing mechanics is so much fun). However, it’s more important to just run and jump before getting into the climbing mechanics, as running and jumping are the most painful parts of GTA gameplay.
6 Regular economy
While “regular” isn’t exactly a word you can find in the GTA vocabulary, the whole economy of GTA V has gotten completely out of hand. Some players now have hundreds of millions of dollars in their bank account in the GTA, which makes the idea of doing heists for a few hundred thousand dollars pointless.
While it doesn’t have to be completely grounded in reality, a regular economy would be fascinating to see in GTA VI. It will be like wreaking havoc in Sim City.
5 More detailed car customization
Back in the 2000s, Rockstar had an incredibly successful racing series called Midnight Club. In Midnight Club III: DUB Edition, one of the best abilities was being able to customize vehicles. A lot of effort went into this as well, as the customization elements were extensive.
While there’s this ability in Grand Theft Auto V, it’s not half as dense, and this has led fans to demand a better mode of customization in GTA VI. Players have been forced to modify vehicles lately, but given an incredible mode of customization in the upcoming game, players would never have to modify (sort of) again.
4 Ability To Enter More Buildings
The world of GTA V is vast, as the panoramic views of the desert and the Los Santos skyline are incredible, but even the open world of the Grand Theft Auto series has its limits.
Although the street designs are great, there are no buildings you can enter unless it has something to do with the story (e.g. clothing stores, tattoo parlors , gun shops). One thing players want more than almost anything is the ability to break into more buildings, whether it’s to tear down workplaces or dine at great restaurants.
3 A casino
Regarding the inability to enter buildings, there is a casino in Los Santos called Diamond Casino and Resort, but it has never been opened to players.
If there’s anything Red Dead Redemption has proven, some players have enjoyed sitting around a wooden table in a tavern and playing poker for hours. And fans want a casino in GTA VI because it was apparently unfairly hung up on GTA V players but never given to them.
2 different eras
When it comes to each player’s favorite entry in the GTA series, it usually comes down to what their favorite decade is more than the characters and the narrative. Whether it’s 80s neon lights in Vice City or San Andreas in the 90s, there’s reason to love each decade. Yet one Redditor thinks GTA VI should feature the same era, but span decades.
It’s a great idea, because it expands the world, not literally making it bigger, but showing how much the same place has changed over time. And while that might sound far-fetched, it could even be related to Red Dead Redemption (if it were to go back that far).
1 A female protagonist
Of all the incredible playable characters in the GTA series, even in GTA V, where there is not one but three protagonists, none of them are female. And even when it comes to female non-player characters, they’re so poorly developed and underwritten.
One way Rockstar can remedy this is to finally have a female protagonist. There’s no reason not to and it would be fascinating to see how the developers develop this.
