Video: Tips to defeat Resident Evil Village quickly
The first and most obvious tip is this: Skip all the cutscenes you can, even if they’re not all skippable. Resident Evil Village always counts the timer during in-game cutscenes, regardless of their duration. You’ll eventually remember which ones are and which ones aren’t, but a good practice is to mash a button and look for the prompter in the lower right that tells you you can skip it. You’ll slow down by always pausing the game and reactivating it to see if your current cutscene is skippable. Also, when faced with swinging torches, don’t bother trying to push them, just fire your infinite ammo weapon to quickly slam them into the braziers!
There are also two combination locks to remember. The first in the village as you walk up to the house with the red chimney saves you having to look out the window. It’s 070408.
Memorizing the second one in Donna’s dollhouse means you don’t have to remove Mia’s doll’s ring or wash it, saving you a lot of time. It’s 052911.
The Moreau section has two easy tricks right at the first windmill. The first is the broken crank: you don’t need the crank to break it, it’s just an additional cutscene. Simply skip it and by the time you return with the working crank, the broken one will be gone.
Second, the tall, crumbling wooden tower that needs to be knocked down in two specific spots usually takes you off the beaten path to get a vantage point, when in reality you can either pull it out of the windmill or dive in under the second part, you need to destroy, and you can slightly see the other one. Another general tip to keep in mind is that Resident Evil Village has no fall damage, so instead of going down ladders, do your best to run into them at an angle and hope Ethan just falls. As you might expect, falling is much faster than climbing.
Have flashbangs and pipe bombs handy as you try to get past hordes of lycans or big werewolves. We’re not here to fight everything, so if you can get past an enemy, we recommend you do.
When playing on casual difficulty, enemies are often slow to attack and give you plenty of time between strikes, so you can often dodge and run past many groups – including enemies in Dimitrescu Castle dungeons and groups of lycans in the Village and fortress.
Some enemies or groups may be too fast or too big to move, like the big werewolf in the tank path, some of the armored soldiers in the factory, or the Lycan hordes in the fortress. Using Flashbangs can give you the space you need to slip through without snagging.
When you need to use Laser Guided Strikes in The Finale, remember to constantly strafe and back away incoming Lycans who will be slow to hit on occasional difficulty, as this is usually a better option than wasting time mowing them down. all.
